DEREK COPELAND – FORMER PUBLICLY ELECTED OFFICIAL IN FLORIDA

Since graduating with honors and distinctions from the University of Florida, Derek Copeland has been a business management consultant, financial services executive and real estate professional. However, before his work in these industries, Derek Copeland was a publicly elected official in Hillsborough County (Tampa area).
A college student at the time, in 1992, Mr. Copeland became the “Youngest Elected Official in Florida” after running and winning a seat as a representative on the Hillsborough County Soil and Water Conservation District. As a publicly elected representative, the Commissioners administer and support local, state, and federal programs which improve water quality and reduce non-point source pollution on both agricultural and non-agricultural lands. In addition, the Commissioners provides educational programs for schools, civic groups, and other organizations.

After his term in office, Mr. Copeland went on to become a business consultant for Accenture from 1996 to 2000, where he worked on the strategic and process improvements for several Fortune 500 companies including Ryder Systems, American Express, Federal Express and Bank of America. Over the next 24 years, he was worked in financial services, where he was a senior analyst for Blackbird Holdings in 2000, a senior vice president for UBS Financial Services in 2001, and for Morgan Stanley in 2008. By 2017, he had launched his own wealth management firm, SilverRock Wealth Partners, where he served as President and CEO.

Today, Mr. Copeland is Principal at MCM Partners, where he is the co-owner and guides the firm's daily operations. MCM Partners works with proven sponsors and General Partners to put together offerings for highly recognized national credit tenants, multi-family, hospitality, Industrial and debt offerings among others. At MCM Partners, Mr. Copeland works on all aspects of the commercial real estate financing including bank debt, mezzanine financing, equity and private lending opportunities.
